2. Recommendation
Many people already know these things but it is better to have a general overview
Before to start to test project is necessary follow some basic rules
to obtain best results and prevent issues:
- Pay attention to quality of welding and wiring
- Some Arduino users complain a unstable reading values from analog input :
USB power is the first issues generator (It's not a clean and stable power supply)
and sometimes will compromise testing.
It is necessary to power Arduino with a good source like good linear power supply
or with battery through VIN pin / External power connector with at least from 7V to 9V.
(Pay attention! some switching power supply do not ensure 100% clear voltage)
Do not overload Arduino internal VCC with too many devices (eg RF transmitter)
- Old or crappy gimbal stick potentiometers :
Sometimes some glitches or nonlinear readings
are due for dirty wiper potentiometer.
Who is able to disassemble can clear internal surface contact with one drop of isopropyl alcohol
on cotton stick (or with nail acetone).
To remove any doubt, replace it temporary with a good potentiometer.
For the final project is necessary to apply (near as possible) 100nF capacitor on all analog inputs
to mitigate external noise (Arduino analog input is high impedance) and twisted cables
NOTE: This project provide electronic basic Sub Trim setup
if you want to use new gimbals stick without mechanical sub trim
- Debounce for mechanical button : (boring problem with mechanical buttons)
Seems to be effective to apply 100nF capacitor on button switch and sometimes a resistor in series
without modify sketch code for accurate reading
- Voltage divider on battery input monitor pin :
-
Up to 10V use 10K / 10K resistors
-
Up to 15V use 20K / 10K resistors
- Voltage divider on PPM output pin :
The original transmitter module of HK-T6A and FS-CT6B is not 5V tolerant
(depends on the hardware release)
To avoid problems you need to use voltage divider resistors 10K / 12K on PPM output pin
(for other transmitter modules may be unnecessary)
