Comments: posting a comment on a post that holds comments doesn't indicate you succeeded

Posting a comment on a site that holds comments for moderation doesn't remember that I did it.

However, it bumps the comment count by 1. This behavior feels glitchy. Ideally, I should see what I posted, or some indication that I posted and my comment is held for moderation.
