Error when i tried running command "git init -b main" saying "unknown switch b"

When i was on the process of pushing up my code to github, i input the first command "git init -b main" but the files never turned green and this is what it said:

usage: git init [-q | --quiet] [--bare] [--template=] [--shared[=]] []
--template
directory from which templates will be used
--bare create a bare repository
--shared[=]
specify that the git repository is to be shared amongst several users
-q, --quiet be quiet
--separate-git-dir
separate git dir from working tree

You should just use git init to initialize a git rep

@Benrockiee Patric wanted us to create the initial branch name as the main that is why -b main is added with git init.

You can do this also:

git init

After that

git branch -M main
