Network error when deplying to Alchemy Rinkebin network

Hello !

When I try to deploy a contract to the Alchemy - Rinkebin network I have this error:

Error: could not detect network (event="noNetwork", code=NETWORK_ERROR, version=providers/5.6.8)

On the .env file I have defined the RPC_URL retrieved from Alchemy and the PRIVATE_KEY retrieved from my MetaMask account.

Should be: await contractFactory.deploy({})
put {} inside () here.

at the top did you put:

if that doesn’t work, please paste the code on the hardhat.config

Yes at the top I have all the required libraries.
I added the brackets but still have the same error message.

Great. Please paste the code for the hardhat.config that you wrote.
Also the .env but without the key values! Only to see how you set up the variables names

At this stage of the lesson 5 there is no hardhat.config file so far....

yes I did and I can see it as being part of my yarn.lock file
I was also able to connect and deploy my SimpleStorage contract on my local blockchain - Ganache

I see that everything you are doing seems to be fine.
Then maybe it is the following simple error:
see if the ".env" file is in the same folder and aligned as the rest of the files inside the "ethers-simple-storage-fcc" folder.
I can't show you here, but in VSC ".env should be under "node_modules" and above ".gitignore" and "deploy.js".

Tried with double quotes and also to add "0x...." but I have the same error.

Could please verify that in the Alchemy Dashboard, your app is set up to Rinkeby Network?

when you say brackets, I guess you're mentioning double quotes.
I already tried with double quotes, single quotes and without quotes and didn't work.
For the private key I have also tried with 0x and without and didn't work as well (also tried double quotes, single quotes and without).

I have the impression that maybe my issue is related with some proxy issue. I'm using a corporate laptop that has zscaler installed that maybe is blocking the connection to Alchemy Rinkeby testnet.

What happens when you try kovan? Or a different provider like infura or moralis?

Thanks for your suggestion. I had the same problem, I was able to deploy using Infura, but when I tried to change the network on Alchemy, it showed depreciated message for Kovan and a deprecation notice for Rinkeby. I think they no longer support these networks.

Yes. So in my personal laptop it works well but not on my corporate laptop.
I can't say it for sure because I didn't look into it digger but I have the feeling that my corporate network policies are somehow blocking the connections to Alchemy and Infura (I didn't try with Moralis)

It’s now working with Alchemy for Rinkeby network, I have no idea what happened. I really appreciate all your help, especially Patrick's.
