According to MSNPiki, MSNP12 introduced the concept of "contact types" or "network IDs"

These are hardcoded numbers that look like bitmasks, but probably aren't - the ones that aren't powers of two are combinations that make no sense.

MSNP14?

This one is copied from MSNPiki, which doesn't specify what version it applies to - I'm guessing it corresponds to MSNP14 due to the yahoo support:

  • 1 Windows Live
  • 2 Office Communicator
  • 4 Telephone
  • 8 MNI (Mobile Network Interop, used by Vodafone)
  • 16 SMTP (Jaguire, Japanese mobile interop)
  • 32 Yahoo

MSNP22

Added 13, "Connect", no idea what it is.

  • 1 Windows Live
  • 2 Office Communicator
  • 4 Telephone
  • 8 "Mobile Network" (see MNI above)
  • 13 "Connect"? (1|4|8)
  • 16 SMTP
  • 32 Yahoo

MSNP24

Replaced 8 with skype. Added 19 and 20, no idea either.

  • 1 Windows Live
  • 2 Office Communicator
  • 4 Telephone
  • 8 Skype
  • 13 "Connect"?
  • 16 SMTP
  • 19 "Temporary Group"? (1|2|16)
  • 20 "Short Circuit"? (4|16)
