Nova Tool Not Building During Creation

Hi there. I'm using;

Laravel: 8.12
Nova: 3.30

When creating a new Tool for Nova the NPM build always fails. The assets can't be complied, but composer does run successfully.

There are around 40 deprecation warnings for NPM, but a major error, which looks to be a node-sass issue, prevents the bulid from completing. Log is below. I've replaced the project paths with ....

As mentioned in the documentation, use Node 14. Node 16 support will only be available for the upcoming Nova 4.

Thanks for the quick reply @crynobone. I can't see anything in the docs i linked to (above) about node version support. I see now it is listed on the requirements page.

I switched to node 14, deleted the tool's node_modules folder, and ran the artisan create command again, but got much the same result. I did install the peer dependency, but it only removed the WARN below. Please forgive my ignorance, i am realtively new to npm.

Are you implying i go back to node 7? I don't think i can do that :D

got is not a dependency i have added. This is a dependency of the initial Tool package setup, and it looks as though the issue is with; "laravel-mix": "^1.0",.

IDE was telling me there was a conflict, because my project is using "laravel-mix": "^6.0.39". So i switched it out with version ^1.0, and then started getting the same errors for the root application npm install, like i did with the tool npm install.

Changing the Tool's package.json to "laravel-mix": "^6.0.39" allowed the build to go through. But i suspect this will just cause other issues elsewhere.

I see already that resources/js/components/tool.jscannot resolve the Tool.vue component file when i run npm run dev (also had to remove the unrecognised flag on that command).

What a nightmare :) I'm just trying to create a tool using the artisan command. Does this Tool feature work out of the box, or do i need to continue with hacking it up?

If you read the error, it seem that the installed got depa work for node 7 and you have node 14 installed. That's a dep that you added on your own so why are you arguing "out of the box" issue?

Sorry i didn't mean to give the impression i'm arguing. I have no dependency on got in my projects node_modules folder.

The only time i get this error is when i try to install the dependencies for the Nova Tool. got shows up in the Tool's node_modules folder.

This error does not occur anywhere else.

In any case, thanks for your time, appreciate it. I'll try and find another solution.
