Mapping special characters for Flatpak/Electron apps under Wayland

I end up typing many special characters such as niðing, ⸮, and • in various apps like Slack/Signal some of them via Flatpak (I wish I did not have to), others are RPM/tar. The mappings exist in ~/.XCompose which works fine for most applications under Wayland (kitty/Firefox), but not on anything Flatpak and Electron-based. I use hyprland with Wayland on Fedora (43), if that helps…

Is this something fcitx5 can do?

If so, how?

If you configured correctly the compose should be handled with fcitx so there's no need to have XCompose file available in all flatpak sand box.

I just installed fcitx, tried running it, and got a message saying Wayland/Hyprland is not support yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think you interpret the warning message wrong. It just says you can't set compositor keyboard layout from fcitx.

Most of the things should just work.
