The error means that the Adafruit_I2CDevice.h file is missing.
That file is part of the Adafruit BusIO library, which is a dependency of the Adafruit GFX library.

To fix this, please install Adafruit BusIO:

1. In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries...
2. Search for Adafruit BusIO
3. Install it (and make sure Adafruit GFX is also installed)
4. Restart the IDE and try compiling again.

If you're using the MAX7219, you may also need to install the Adafruit LED Backpack Library.
