Image can#t be inserted inside Cell, the same way as the newest Excel sheet or google sheet

am trying to insert the image into a cell, not hovering over pictures
but there is no option to do that at the moment with the latest version am using

Microsoft only implemented this functionality 12 months ago, and it has not yet been implemented in PhpSpreadsheet. It's on my list of new features to implement, along with the new IMAGE() function.

No ETA yet, it's more complex because of the options to set multiple images in a single cell and set sizing rules for each of them (including autosize to fit the cell). I'm still investigating the new files/settings that are included in the zipped archive.

Hi, just checking in to see if there are any updates on this. Im currently trying to insert images into cells, but Im facing an issue where the images overlap and don't behave as expected when filtering or hiding rows. Any guidance would be appreciated

I am aware of this. I've done enough research to know that the image is stored in the cell as if it were a RichText item. Beyond that, I have not yet started to work on how we might implement it, and don't know when I might have the time for it.

I am sorry. I have not been able even to understand how the Excel file indicates in which cell the image is stored. Many other aspects of this functionality also confuse me. Without a better understanding, and it will take a long time for that to happen, I cannot add this functionality.

I extracted the Excel file into a ZIP archive and opened:

xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml

this is the cell where I have my image saved.

if I open

xl/richData/_rels/richValueRel.xml.rels

I can see the referenced images and target data. You can chain the path together, if your sheet is simple this would be a good way to at least read the data set in the cell outside of the lib by extracting the file out to a dir.

If you can test against PR #4677 and let me know the results, that would be helpful. I have not yet been able to review that change in the detail that I think it needs.
